Studio Spotlight: Q&A with Trainer Lloyd

At P.volve, our instructors are so essential to the method. They motivate us, perfect our form, and help us advance to the next stage of every workout, no matter if we’re in the studio or working out from our living room. That’s why it’s important to get to know these experts better—so we can feel more connected to them and hear why they do what they do so passionately.

Lloyd Dickenson’s passion for fitness started at a young age on the St. Thomas Virgin Islands. He excelled in sports, played collegiate basketball and eventually started his career as a group fitness trainer. Throughout his 15-year career, he’s helped hundreds of his clients achieve their fitness goals with hands-on work.

Now, he’ll take his talents to the P.volve studio, where he’ll continue to help people understand the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. Learn more about the new NYC trainer below.

What led you to P.volve?

I had a fitness audition and had to perform a series of moves that I’ve never done before. I thought it was fun and controlled but at the same time I was sweating. I was very intrigued!

How did your upbringing lead you to an interest or passion in health and fitness?

I was born in St. Thomas and my family were all athletes. I’ve always been into sports as a kid and that carried over into an adult. And my love for fitness grew as well.

What are three words you’d use to describe your approach to health and wellness? Has it evolved since joining the P.volve team?

Balance, fun and sustainable. It hasn’t changed because I believe P.volve shares those same qualities.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

Working out is something that I can’t live without. Some may call me a “workout junkie.”

Any favorite pieces of equipment or streaming videos?

My favorite piece of equipment is the p.3 trainer. It’s so dynamic!

What’s your morning or nightly routine like?

My mornings usually start at 4:30 a.m. I do fasted cardio, workout and then eat breakfast. Then I’m ready for my day!

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to a P.volve beginner?

If you’re a P.volve beginner, I would say don’t get frustrated. P.volve is a journey that requires a lot of focus and patience.
